Dental Technology, Edmonton Dentist

Technologies at Our Dental Clinic

Our team in Edmonton uses technology to better diagnose and treat various oral health conditions.

Using X-rays and scanners, we can get a closer look at what may be going on below your gum line, and catch these concerns before they become big problems. We can use the screens in our treatments rooms to show you your scans and explain each step of your treatment plan.

Our goal is to provide patients with dental care while ensuring they are fully informed about their oral health; dental technology helps us accomplish that.

Digital X-Rays

Using digital sensors instead of photographic X-ray film, digital X-rays can produce highly detailed computer images of your teeth, gums, and other oral structures while limiting your exposure to radiation. This helps your dentist examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.

Panoramic X-Rays

Panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to create a single flat image of your entire mouth, including your teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays are often used to help plan treatments for dentures, braces, extractions and implants.

Intraoral Scanners

Using an optical scanning wand, your dentist can take an image of the inside of your mouth to create a digital model. This device allows your dentist to capture accurate data that is used to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth.

iTero® 3D Scanner

The iTero intraoral scanner takes accurate, 3D impressions of your bite. It is often used by our dentists to plan your treatment and store data digitally. It is also used to create a digital dental impression from which your customized Invisalign clear aligners will be made.

VELscope®

The VELscope is an oral cancer screening device that helps your dentist identify any abnormalities and diseases in your mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, your VELscope oral cancer screening can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams.
